the starling

Where its hot
as a furnace
You won't find
Mr. Sturnus

You must travel
to Paris
to visit
Mrs. Vulgarus

Shiny and spotted
You will never embarrass
a starling with a name
like Sturnus Vulgaris

Sounds greek to me but it is latin. Ah yes, the dreaded starling. They kind of came over here from Europe and took over. I love birds, we get plenty of cardinals, blue jays, chickadees, donwy woodpeckers, starlings, house finches, gold finches, juncos, titmouse and now some hummingbirds too since I got Grif a feeder. We took a walk today in a little nature center by us. Girf's gotten good at knowing the name of various wild flowers (black eyed susan's, goldernrod, queen anne's lace, clovers and a few otehrs) plus he is good at birds adn bird calls. I'm training him of course but I want my boys to appreciate nature

Wonderful Poem, although Skeeter is still wondering what is so bad about the name Sturnus Vulgaris. She thinks it's neat to have a latin name.

Keep up the poetry, it's neat!
